Paul Pogba was central to France’s success in the World Cup, however he struggled at Manchester United under Jose Mourinho.

Barcelona are desperately looking around the transfer market as they seek to find a replacement for Andres Iniesta. The Spanish veteran midfielder exited the club after an illustrious career with the Blaugrana. Needless to say, getting his replacements will be a very difficult task. However, Ernesto Valverde’s team has been linked with a move for several stars.

Those included Paul Pogba, Marco Veratti, Adrien Rabiot, Eden Hazard and Willian just to mention a few among others. The Catalans have appointed Eric Abidal as sporting director to use goodwill and sign players from major clubs. The former Barcelona player and current player has certainly not disappointed since being vested with the post.

Abidal has weaved his hand in the transfer window and made sure most of Barcelona’s targets are signed and the dead weight is cleaned. Clement Lenglet, Arthur Melo and Malcom all signed for the club in the last one month. Meanwhile, Paulinho and Lucas Digne were shown the exit door with players like Andre Gomes, Paco Alcacer and Denis Suarez set to follow.

Eric Abidal is now on a mission to bring in Paul Pogba to the Camp Nou. The Frenchman believes his compatriot has the desire and qualities to fill in the void left by Iniesta. Various sources including Sky Sports are reporting that Barca’s sporting director has met the Manchester United midfielder in the United States.

Paul Pogba moved to United just two years ago for £89 million and has a long term contract at the Old Trafford. However, he is ready to leave the Red Devils amid speculation of a fractured relationship with boss Jose Mourinho. The Frenchman has not been used properly and in his natural position by the United coach. Pogba has been extremely playing a free attacking midfield role for France.

Barcelona believe that signing Pogba with Sergio Busquets present to cover as defensive midfielder, they’d have a replacement for Japan bound Iniesta. While no official offer has been made by Barcelona for Pogba, the 25 year old is expected to cost at least £150 million for the Spanish champions.
