A Birmingham City fan punches Jack Grealish during the game against Aston Villa in the Championship earlier today.

The Midland derby is one of the fiercest games in England where the players and fans are fire up for the clash.

However, scenes turned rather ugly during the game between Aston Villa and Birmingham City earlier today, as a fan invaded the pitch and punched Jack Grealish.

Grealish was walking towards the goal, when the fan broke the security barrier and ran on to the pitch, hitting the player from behind.

The incident took place early in the first half during the Midlands derby.

Birmingham City are 10th in the Championship, while Aston Villa have had a disappointing season and are currently 14th.

Jack Grealish, the captain of Aston Villa, was subject to the attack seemingly due to the rivalry with Birmingham City. The English youngster began his career at Aston Villa and has since been representing the club.

The fan blew kisses towards the crowd as he was taken away by the stewards. He has now been arrested.
