He reasoned that it was because he had to adapt his game in a manner that allowed the Barcelona star to retain his starring role in the side. Almost a year since, Dybala now admits that he shouldn’t have gone public with his grief.

‘My words about him? I should have said it differently,’ said Dybala in an interview with the Argentina national team website.
‘There were people who wanted to understand it with bad intention. I never tried to criticize a partner, I just wanted to improve something that was happening.
‘I would have liked to give more to Argentina and achieve better results; both in the group and on a personal level.
‘Even I spoke with Leo, because both of us are very similar tactically. Even with [manager Lionel] Scaloni we worked so that we did not clash on the pitch.’
‘I played five years there at Juventus, him 15 at Barcelona. We feel comfortable in the same position. The best is that the coach works on that. It’s obvious that i’m the one that has to change and look for space he is not occupying.’
Paulo Dybala is currently self-isolating in Italy after testing positive for Coronavirus. The Argentine recently spoke about his suffering and claimed to have been short of breath. However, by his own admission, he is now feeling much better.
