Pavon to Barcelona

Pavon to Barcelona could become a reality as Lionel Messi wants Barcelona to shell out $50 million for the Argentina star.

Boca Juniors’ star Cristian Pavon is one of the most budding players in South America and has attracted the eye of several European giants in the last few months. Arsenal are one such team who look up to the Argentinian and are willing to spend 50 million euros on his services, which they believe is a fee that Boca will not reject.

However, Spanish champions in Barcelona are expected to step into the chase for the 22 year old as well. That is as per Don Balon who claim that the Catalans are interested in the winger upon the recommendation of their legend and captain, Lionel Messi, who does have a say in their transfer proceedings.

The Argentina captain seems to have been impressed with Cristian Pavon, even more after training with him during the FIFA World Cup in Russia earlier this year. The 22 year old has been important and a consistent inclusion in the Argentina squad, having already won 89 caps for his nation.

He has scored 25 goals and assisted 29 times which is a fantastic return keeping in mind that he is not the focal point of goal scoring plays in the national team. Also, the fact that he has broken into Boca Juniors’ starting eleven aged just 22 is great because they are one of the biggest clubs across South American football.

Hence, Barcelona, who are new suitors for Pavon are expected to make an approach for him in the January transfer window and rival Arsenal to his signatures. A 50 million euro transfer fee is what the club will have to pay for him in order to be able to hire the services. As things are panning out, Barcelona is a hot destination for him.

It remains to be seen whether Pavon will play regularly at Barcelona due to the presence of Leo Messi, Luis Suarez, Ousmane Dembele and Munir El Haddadi in the attacking department. Yet, playing for Barcelona, that too on Messi’s recommendation is a massive honour for any player.
