Pogba vs Southampton

Pogba vs Southampton: Paul Pogba performed poorly against Southampton, and his gameplay was summed up in a 10-second video.

Manchester United failed to impress yet again the league as the side was held to a 2-2 draw by relegation-threatened Southampton. Mark Hughes’ side took a shock 2-0 lead over United as Mourinho opted for a 3-5-2 formation in the game.

However, Rashford inspired Manchester United’s comeback in the game as the youngster assisted both the goals. Romelu Lukaku ended his goal-drought, while Ander Herrera performed a clever flick to equal the scoreline.

Paul Pogba’s performance came under scrutiny as the midfielder lost possession on 14 occasions throughout the game. The midfielder, as Mourinho stated after the game, tried too many things on the field, and in the process lost the ball at significant moments.

Here’s one of those occasions in the game, which perfectly sums up the midfielder’s performances in the recent games.

Pogba vs Southampton:

Paul Pogba intercepted the long-ball from a Southampton player with a brilliant side and an impressive first touch. He kept the ball as he was pressurized by the defender, turning around the player to keep the possession.

However, as he creates space to drift forward, Pogba tries to be creative, but in the process, loses the ball cheaply.

The United fans jeered at Pogba after the possession was lost.

Here’s the video of the moment:

Paul Pogba has been going through a rough patch at the moment. The midfielder came back to the side last week after missing the game against Manchester City due to injury, but failed to inspire the side to victory against Crystal Palace at Old Trafford.

He came off the bench in a 1-0 win over Young Boys in the Champions League, but suffered with inconsistency yet again in the game last night.

What next?

Manchester United remain at 7th in the league, however, as Bournemouth lost 3-1 to Manchester City yesterday.

The side will now take on the high-flying Arsenal on Wednesday, as the Gunners play Tottenham in season’s first north London derby later tonight.
