Premier League Transfer News: Manchester United, Liverpool and Arsenal target opts to join Serie A giants

Real Madrid’s James Rodriguez is wanted by Napoli in the summer transfer window.

When Zinedine Zidane expressed his discontentment with James Rodriguez, the Colombian International opted to join Bayern Munich. The 27-year-old has not been a regular starter under Niko Kovac and it looks implausible to see him getting retained. His career has stagnated since the departure of Carlo Ancelotti at Real Madrid.

The attacking midfielder is available for grabs in the summer transfer window, and English trio Liverpool, Manchester United, and Arsenal were ready to lure him away from Santiago Bernabeu. However, in the hopes of reviving his career, he would opt to join Napoli in the summer transfer window.

According to the English publication Independent, the midfielder is wanted by his former manager at Sao Paulo. He is expected to turn down advances from the Premier League trio to make a move away to the Serie A giants. The duo clicked really well at the capital city of Spain as they went on to lift the Champions League.

During 2014/15 season, James Rodriguez was at his best – scoring 17 times and producing another 18 assists in all competitions. Carlo Ancelotti was the manager at that time and he fell out with Zinedine Zidane before moving to Bayern Munich. Carlo Ancelotti was in charge of Bayern Munich when he moved to Allianz Arena in 2017 and he could follow the same route.

He has a contract until 2021, and an offer around 50 million would be ideal to land him. The Los Blancos are in a transition period under Zinedine Zidane and James Rodriguez is not part of his future plans at the club.

When he was interviewed on his future three months before, James said: “I have to think hard about what I’m doing [in terms of my future]. In Madrid, I have everything: my house, people who love me.

“We will have to see what happens, but at the moment I have a contract with Bayern Munich. I just want to finish the season and we’ll see what happens.”

Here’s how Twitter has reacted..

What’s next?

James Rodriguez will aim to reignite his career and a move to Naples makes sense after being breezed out by Niko Kovac.
