Premier League transfer rumours The Big 6 and their weirdest transfer rumours this January

Premier League transfer rumours: The Big 6 and their weirdest transfer rumours in the ongoing January transfer window.

The January transfer window has been rather quite with only Liverpool making an actual purchase so far. However, all the big 6 clubs are reportedly in talks to bring in reinforcements. Manchester United, Chelsea and Tottenham are all in need of a striker. City and Arsenal meanwhile, are looking to sort their defensive issues.

As is with the Premier League, several transfer news have been doing the rounds. Many of them are well quite believable and seem to make sense with the situation the clubs find themselves in. However, there are several others that are too ridiculous to even consider.

Today we will look at the weirdest Premier League transfer rumours associated with all the clubs from the bog 6 in the ongoing transfer window.

Liverpool

Considering Liverpool’s growing stature in recent years, the Reds have been linked with several top talents in recent weeks; most notably Kylian Mbappe. They have also been linked with Real Madrid’s Isco and the usual suspects of Phil Coutinho and Ousmane Dembele.

However, the weirdest of them all has to be the sudden and shocking rumour involving Arsenal starlet Gabriel Martinelli. The report from Football insider claims that the Reds are looking at him as one for the future.

Taking into account Aubameyang and Lacazette’s advancing age, it is likelier that Martinelli will establish himself in the first team sooner than he will at Anfield; with all 3 Liverpool forwards being key proponents of Klopp’s playing style.

The transfer also doesn’t make sense from the club’s perspective. Why would Arsenal give away one of their most promising youngsters to a league rival they hope to topple one day? This particular news makes the ones involving Kylian Mbappe sound like a much more logical piece.

Manchester City

In terms of quality, Manchester City arguably have the most complete squad in all of Europe. Pep Guardiola has in his Arsenal two World Class players for every available position. However, that hasn’t stopped the club from adding to their arsenal.

The club have extremely rich owners that have helped them spend lavishly in the transfer market. However, even so, the reigning English Champions do well not to overspend while making sure that most of their purchases end up being worth the money splashed.

That however, hasn’t stopped the club from being associated with several big names in the market, the most ridiculous of which involves PSG’s Neymar according to Le Parisien, who also claim that Liverpool, Chelsea, Juventus, Real Madrid and Barcelona also want to bring him in January itself.

Surely Neymar is a world class player that would immediately improve a team that he joins. However, at the moment, Barcelona appear to be the only club willing to pay the extremely high demands of the bosses at PSG.

With Mahrez and Sterling doing very well for the club this season, it would make no sense for the club to break the bank to bring in another wide forward in Neymar.

Tottenham

Following Jose Mourinho’s appointment as Tottenham boss, Spurs have been linked with a host of names. These names include several of his players from his previous clubs. However, the award for the most ridiculous name on offer has to be Crystal Palace striker Christian Benteke according to the Sunday express.

Tottenham are currently without a proper striker following Harry Kane’s injury. They need to add a new striker to the squad if they are to qualify for the Champions League. However, Benteke is far from the solution Spurs require.

The Belgian can’t even find a regular spot in the playing 11 for the Eagles. In fact, for all his talent, Benteke has only scored 4 times in his last 65 games for Palace. A far cry from the numbers Harry Kane was pulling in. The Lilywhites would be better off employing Lucas Moura as their number 9 instead of Benteke this season.

Arsenal

Apart from Liverpool, Manchester City and to an extent, Chelsea, most of the other clubs that were expected to do well have been well below par. Arsenal would consider themselves the worst among the lot. The club understand that they would have to be aggressive in the transfer market if they are to return to the Champions League once again.

To that end, the club have been linked with a host of names in January including Manchester City’s John Stones. While several of them have some possibility of happening due to Arsenal still being a big name in the market or the players’ unhappiness at their current club, the one most unlikely to happen is Leicester City’s Wilfried Ndidi’s move to North London.

According to Leicestershire Live, the club that is looking extremely good for a top 4 finish, have been offered the chance to sign Granit Xhaka in exchange for a man who is already being compared to N’Golo Kante.

Not only is Leicester performing head and shoulders above Arsenal but the player is of paramount importance to the side. This news easily takes the cake for the worst transfer rumour associated with the Gunners.

Manchester United

The Red Devils, as is always, have been linked with several big names around the world. The club are rumoured to be interested in James Maddison, Jack Grealish, Bruno Fernandes, Edinson Cavani and Koulibaly Kalidou. However, with the passing of the days, the names associated with the club have just gotten weirder.

The name that has our attention though is that of Carlos Tevez. United are desperate for a forward after losing Marcus Rashford to injury. However, the Argentine is the exact opposite of everything that the club were looking for back in the summer window.

Carlos Tevez is a 35-year old ex United player at the end of his career. The former Premier League star can’t even make it in the Boca Juniors side at the moment. To expect him to recreate the same magic from a dozen years back and fill Rashford’s gap is not just ridiculous but downright delusional!

The club would be better off paying Sporting’s demands for Bruno Fernandes and improving their midfield and give Mason Greenwood the chances like Ole claimed he would before the 2019/20 season began.

Chelsea

The Blues have a huge war chest that they can splurge on transfers following the sale of Eden Hazard to Real Madrid and their transfer embargo. However, the blues are yet to bring in a new signing despite having their ban revoked.

This however, hasn’t stopped the club from being linked to multiple players in the ongoing transfer window. Price is hardly an issue for the club right now which makes even the 100m rumors for players like Timo Werner and Jadon Sancho look like actual possibilities.

Although there are some questionable rumours such as Wilfried Zaha and Lewis Dunk, whose performance this season or age do not align with their asking price, the one that tops them all is Vinicius Jr.’s who could join Chelsea this January for €80m according to El Desmarque.

Considering how heavily Real Madrid have invested in the teenager’s development, it is unlikely that the club will part with him now. There is also the matter of the Brazilian being surplus to requirement at Stamford Bridge. Chelsea have both Pulisic and Hudson-Odoi filling in for the Left-wing role at the moment.

This concludes all the weirdest and the most ridiculous Premier League Big 6 transfer rumours.
