PSG bid for Rakitic and Sergio Busquets, according to reports from Spain. Barcelona have reportedly offered Busquets a new contract.

Paris Saint-Germain have been in the transfer market looking for a midfielder. The French giants were keen on bringing on one of Paul Pogba, N’Golo Kante or Miralem Pjanic. Unfortunately, deals for their top three targets could not be formulated properly and as a result, they have turned attention towards Barcelona’s midfield line.

Ivan Rakitic and Sergio Busquets are the two options that have been on the French champions’ mind. However, with Barcelona reluctant to sell and even more cautious after the Neymar case, it all depends on what their player desires, as per Sport English.

With that said, the Catalans are also adding hefty release clauses on all their star players’ contracts.

Sergio Busquets has been with the club since the start of his career and has a highly decorated trophy room. As per RAC1, Barcelona will offer their defensive midfielder a bumper increase and slap a release clause of €200 million with his stay valid till the summer of 2021. Knowing about PSG’s liquidity and credit worthiness in the market, they are keen to wrap things up and a contract could be sealed by September.

Ivan Rakitic has a release clause worth €125 million but had an increment in his value following the World Cup. He was vital for Croatia as the Balkans made it to second place in Russia. Keeping in mind that Rakitic is 30 years old now, if he turns down a major offer, Barcelona will have to offer a major bump in his contract as compensation which is now unforeseen.

Paris Saint-Germain’s intentions are very well known to Barcelona who were raided by the French champions just a year ago. With the transfer window due to shut in less than two weeks, the Catalans want to do all they can to block the moves. Barcelona are already two games into the season which saw them grab two wins and visit Real Valladolid next weekend in pursuit of three points more.
