England take on the Netherlands in the UEFA Nations League Semifinals at Portugal. The game was dominated by England in the first half, whilst the Netherlands have been totally assured in the second half.
England lead the game in the first half. Matthijs De Ligt made a horrendous mistake and gave away a cheap penalty. Marcus Rashford slotted the ball inside the back of the net. There were not many chances for the rest of the first half. However, things were changing drastically. Ronald Koeman’s side kept on pushing for an equalizer and got one through Matthijs De Ligt.
The centre-back withdrew himself to score an excellent goal. The game went down to the extra time and tired legs have already played a part. John Stones received the ball and was not aware of Memphis Depay’s pressing. The Dutch forward picked the ball from his feet and shot the ball which was saved by Jordan Pickford.
When the ball was in a very good position, Quincy Promes made full use of his pace to win the running battle with Kyle Walker. The Dutch forward stretched to reach the ball. The ball was not hitting the target, but the ball went inside the back of the net after a deflection from Kyle Walker.
The Netherlands lead the game for the first time in this tie.
