During the fifth match of the ongoing ICC Cricket World Cup 2019 between South Africa and Bangladesh at The Oval, South Africa wicket-keeper batsman Quinton de Kock became a victim of horrendous communication with opening partner Aiden Markram.
Chasing a 331-run target, South Africa got off to a decent start until this dismissal happened. It was the fourth delivery of the 10th over when Bangladesh wicket-keeper batsman Mushfiqur Rahim dropped de Kock behind the wickets on the bowling of Mehidy Hasan Miraz.
With the ball travelling towards short fine-leg, non-striker Markram saw a run and called immediately. de Kock, who initially refused the single, started to run in a bid to respond to a confident call from Markram. However, it was at this point in time that Markram decided against the run.

Leaving de Kock in the middle of the pitch, it was way too easy for Rahim to collect the ball and produce a direct-hit at the striker’s end. Looking good in the middle, de Kock ended up scoring 23 (32) with the help of four fours.
South Africa captain Faf du Plessis has walked in to bat to replace de Kock. Having already lost their first match, South African team need its captain play a match-winning innings from hereon. At the end of 10th over, South Africa were 51/1, needing 280 runs to win in the next 40 overs.
