RB Leipzig vs Liverpool Champions League Venue : Where will be RB Leipzig vs Liverpool Champions League held?

The location was identified as a potential stadium to shift matches to in such situations

With Germany currently engulfed in the strictest and most stringent lockdown since the advent of the Coronavirus pandemic, the entire country finds itself under shackles at the moment. Not only the land of the country but its international borders have been sealed as well in a mid to mitigate the spread of COVID.

It’s a move which also resulted in the country decided to refuse Liverpool permission for their first round Champions League round of 16 fixture against RB Leipzig. The country refused to ease down its norms for sporting events, resulting in RB Leipzig needing to scamper to find a new venue.

UEFA Confirm Rearranged Venue

The Bundesliga club has finally succeeded in its bid with UEFA revealing today that Budapest in Hungary would conduct the match now.

“UEFA can confirm that the UEFA Champions League round of 16 first leg match between RB Leipzig and Liverpool FC will now take place at Puskás Arena in Budapest. The date of the match (16 February 2021) and kick-off time (21:00CET) will remain the same.

“UEFA would like to thank RB Leipzig and Liverpool FC for their close cooperation and assistance in finding a solution to the issue at hand, as well as the Hungarian Football Federation for their support and agreeing to host the match in question,” the governing council said on its website on Sunday.

Germany Deny Permission To Liverpool

“The Corona Protection Ordinance passed by the German government last Friday provides for only a few exceptions and no special regulations for professional athletes.

“The Federal Police informed the club, RB Leipzig, today that the described case constellation does not fall under the exceptions,” the country’s watchdog said.

“Our people are working with UEFA and Leipzig. We’ll find out where we play, it’s not our decision.

“I think with all the stuff we’re doing here, the record we have here with cases and discipline, it would be absolutely reasonable to make an exemption,” Klopp had said about the entire situation.
