For a team that boasts the likes of Virat Kohli, Chris Gayle and the great AB de Villers, it is safe to say that Royal Challengers Bangalore have under performed massively over the last ten editions of the IPL.

During the last decade, RCB possessed some of the very best players in the game including the likes of Rahul Dravid, Anil Kumble, Yuvraj Singh, Kevin Pietersen, Mitchell Starc and Shane Watson in addition to the holy trinity of Kohli, Gayle and ABD.

But for one reason or the other, this incredibly popular franchise has failed to win the competition, as they have suffered some heartbreaking losses in the latter stages of the tournament.

RCB have lost three finals in addition to several playoff matches, as the Red and Gold franchise have unfortunately developed the tag of ‘chokers’. Their most heartbreaking loss came in the 2016 final which was held in Bengaluru, when a rampant Kohli could not drag his side across the line against the Sunrisers Hyderabad.

With the chance to start afresh starting with the IPL mega auction in one month’s time, RCB will be looking to pull out all stops in order to land their maiden IPL title. And it looks like they have started off by roping in World Cup winning coach, Gary Kirsten as their head of team management for the next season.

Gary Kirsten famously guided India in the 2011 World Cup, as the South African holds a special place in the hearts of Indian cricket fans all over the world.

Kirsten also shares a wonderful rapport with Kohli, as the South African was one of the first people to recognize the immense potential in the youngster. With Kohli certain to be retained and Gary taking care of the things in the back, RCB has everything in place to finally lift their IPL title.
