Royal Challengers and Super Kings had earlier met during IPL 2019 season opener when RCB were bundled out for 70 at Chennai. In what was a spinners’ paradise, it received severe criticism from both captains in MS Dhoni and Virat Kohli.

The last season of IPL had witnessed Super Kings defeating Royal Challengers in both the matches. In the first match at Pune, Chennai chased down 206 runs in the last over on the back of a 101-run partnership for the fifth wicket between Ambati Rayudu (82) and Dhoni (70*).

The second encounter at Bengaluru presented an easier chase for the visitors as the hosts ended up scoring a paltry 127-9 in their allotted quota of 20 overs after CSK all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja registered bowling figures of 4-0-18-3.

Remaining unbeaten in a 48-run stand for the fifth wicket alongside all-rounder Dwayne Bravo, Dhoni had scored 31* (23) with the help of one four and three sixes as Super Kings sealed the chase in 18 overs.
