The two sides will be locking heads in the competition tomorrow
Liverpool’s impending showdown with Real Madrid was poised to be a tantalising affair due to a bevy of reasons. And one of them was Mohamed Salah with the Liverpool top scorer emerging as a flash point of the clash.
While his much awaited matchup with Sergio Ramos was cancelled owing to the Real Madrid captain’s injury, Salah continued to make news ahead of the affair. It was down to his comments earlier in the season with the Egyptian expressing a desire to play in the La Liga on a couple of occasions.
Zidane Remains Mum On Salah Links
Real Madrid’s manager, Zinedine Zidane was quizzed about those comments and the never ending reports of Real Madrid moving for Salah. However, the Frenchman staved off those queries as he refused to comment on the links with Salah.
“Salah’s not our player. I have 25 players here and so far Real Madrid’s goal is enjoying La Liga in the moment.
“What I want and what I’m interested about is tomorrow’s match and playing against players like Salah and that’s what we’re going to have to do tomorrow.”
“Liverpool are a really complete team. Their front line is really good but in general they’re a solid outfit. They play well as a team. Both sides are missing players, but that always happens in football, but strength comes from the team.”
“It’s knockout football, a final, that’s going to be played over 180 minutes or more. We know what there is to come, but we’re just focused on tomorrow’s game – nothing else. It’s the most important game of the season because it’s the next one we have. We aren’t thinking about the past.”
The two clubs will be facing off against each other in the Champions League on Tuesday in the quarter-final. This is the first meeting between the two clubs since the final in 2018, one where Real Madrid had ended up handing out a drubbing to Liverpool.
