India wicket-keeper batsman Rishabh Pant not being able to convert his potential into performance at the highest level often finds him at the receiving end of severe criticism. Despite getting repeated opportunities, Pant hasn’t been able to justify his position in the limited-overs format.
The 21-year old cricketer has been given the cushion of batting at No. 4 in both ODIs and T20Is. Having said that, some “casual” shot selection has seen him letting down both his team and fans of late.
Been accused of throwing his wicket away in the second and third ODI and the second Test during the tour of West Indies, Pant replicated the same in the second T20I against South Africa in Mohali last week.
Rishabh Pant news today
In a recent interview with India Today, former India all-rounder Yuvraj Singh laid emphasis on not comparing Pant to former India captain and current wicket-keeper batsman Mahendra Singh Dhoni citing that even the latter took time to cement his spot.

“MS Dhoni was not made in a day. It took a few years so it will take a few years for a replacement also. There is one year to go for the T20 World Cup so that is still a long time,” Yuvraj was quoted as saying.
Furthermore, Yuvraj was also vocal about the team management working in tandem to bring the best out of Pant. “How they [team management] get the best out of Pant is completely based on his character. You have to understand his psychology and then work with that. If you are going to suppress him, you won’t get the best out of him.
“Yes, he has been given a number of chances but how do you get the best out of him. The people monitoring him in the team — the coaches, the captain — can make a lot of difference,” Yuvraj said.
