Rishabh Pant scores insane 78* vs Mumbai Indians

Rishabh Pant scores insane 78* vs Mumbai Indians: Twitter was excited as Delhi Capitals wicket-keeper batsman scored his ninth IPL half-century.

During the third match of the ongoing 12th season of the Indian Premier League between Mumbai Indians and Delhi Capitals at Mumbai, Delhi Capitals wicket-keeper batsman Rishabh Pant registered his ninth IPL half-century to finish the innings on a positive note for his team.

Coming in to bat at No. 5 in the 14th over, Pant scored a lone run in the first five balls which he played. In what was a brief period where he set his eyes on the ball, Pant launched the big shots from the next over. The first casualty came in to form of Indians all-rounder Ben Cutting who conceded a couple of fours and a six from Pant.

Having tasted blood in Cutting’s over, Pant made it a point to punish each and every opposition bowler. In the next over bowled by all-rounder Hardik Pandya, Pant hit him for a couple of fours and a six. Mitchell McClenaghan, who was the pick of the bowlers for MI, also faced the heat against Pant as the southpaw hit him for a couple of fours in the 17th over.

Rishabh Pant takes on Jasprit Bumrah

The highlight of Pant’s innings was his battle against fellow Indian fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah. The way the 21-year old cricketer dealt with arguably the best death bowler in Bumrah spoke highly about his skills in this format. Pant hit a couple of fours and sixes each in two overs bowled by Bumrah at the death overs.

Rasikh Salam, who surprisingly made his debut for MI tonight, had given only 21 runs in the first three overs. However, Pant scored a four and two sixes to spoil the 17-year old cricketer’s bowling figures on debut.

On the back of Pant’s nearly-unbelievable innings, Delhi Capitals ended up scoring 213-6 in their allotted quota of 20 overs. Pant himself scored 78* (27) with the help of seven fours and seven sixes.
