Romelu Lukaku vs Everton

Romelu Lukaku vs Everton: The Manchester United star could be on the bench as the side hosts Everton at Old Trafford on Sunday.

Manchester United have had a struggling season so far. The side is currently 10th in the Premier League, with only 14 points from 9 games.

After spirited performances against Newcastle and Chelsea, Manchester United slumped to a 1-0 defeat against Juventus in the Champions League.

United will now return to Premier League action as they take on Everton in the league on Sunday. Jose Mourinho’s men have only won 1 game in their last seven, and the Portuguese manager would aim to return to winning ways as they take on the Merseyside club.

Meanwhile, it is being reported that Romelu Lukaku may finally be benched, owing to bad form against Everton.

Romelu Lukaku vs Everton:

The Belgian striker is struggling with form at the moment. Lukaku has scored only four goals this season, and has been goalless in United’s last eight games. Besides, the striker has missed significant chances throughout the season which could be vital as the season progresses.

Rob Dawson, the journalist for ESPN, now reports that Romelu Lukaku might finally be benched against his former club, Everton tomorrow.

The Belgian footballer joined Manchester United a year ago from the Merseyside club, where he spent three seasons.

Earlier, Jose Mourinho insisted that he would continue playing the Belgian.

“I always feel the (next) game is the game (he will score). I feel that every game. One day it will be, he will score and one day his confidence levels will be back to normal, which clearly they are not there,” said Mourinho.

“I don’t think Carrick can play as a striker,” the manager said on being asked if he will rest the striker.

Samuel Luckhurst, the journalist for Manchester Evening News, has also reported that Mourinho is prepared to drop Lukaku for the game tomorrow.

What next?

Manchester United will play Everton and Bournemouth over the next two weeks in the league. Both the clubs are currently above the side in the Premier League table.
