Juventus are reportedly lining up to make a move for the Manchester United striker Romelu Lukaku.

The reigning Serie A Champions Juventus are potentially lining up a bid to lure Romelu Lukaku from Manchester United. Following a successful season last term by netting 27 goals, the Red Devils striker has been struggling to find his feet this season. After getting benched for some part of this season, he has scored just 6 goals in 22 appearances.

The Belgian International is currently on compassionate duty and will miss the next fixture against Huddersfield Town at Old Trafford on the boxing day. Although the reason is unknown, a small break for him would do a world of wonders for the 25-year-old who has struggled for a breakthrough this season.

Following the World Cup in Russia, the Belgian was rushed back to the club duties by the former Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho. Apart from making 51 appearances for the club last term, he represented another six games for his country in the World Cup which must have been exhausting for the former Chelsea striker.

According to the Italian publication Calciomercato, the Old Lady are targetting Lukaku as he has age in his side and has already scored tons on goal in his early days. On the other hand, it is also believed that the reigning Italian champions are ready to ship off Mario Mandzukic who will turn 33 in the upcoming summer. On the other hand, on-loan AC Milan striker Gonzalo Higuain is another player who has already crossed the 30 age mark.

When Romelu Lukaku was interviewed about the prospect of playing in the Serie A, he explained his admiration for the league and the Old Lady in particular.

Speaking to the La Gazzeta Dello Sport, the Belgian said “Why not? I hope so,”

They [Juventus] have a big project and they never stop,”

“Each year, they look to get better. Without doubt they are one of the two or three best sides. They’ve got a great coach on the bench and extraordinary players all over the field.

“Cristiano is their best player, but look out for the others: [Paulo] Dybala is already really good and he’s getting better, while I love Douglas Costa.

“It’s a tough group, but United want to finish top of it.”

Manchester United played Juventus in the Champions League group stages twice. They won at the Allianz Stadium and lost in the reverse fixture at Old Trafford. Creating chances were not a premium for the current Manchester United side which saw Lukaku fail to find the back of the net in both the games. Despite losing two games in this competition, the Red Devils have progressed to the knockout round of the Champions League.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has multiple options up front, but Lukaku will certainly be a blow. The Red Devils will play Huddersfield Town at Old Trafford on boxing day as they seek to finish a top-four spot.
