Cristiano Ronaldo’s mother is ‘fighting for life’ after she had breast surgery and underwent radiotherapy.

Juventus forward Cristiano Ronaldo‘s mother, Dolores Aviero, has revealed that she is fighting for her life after undergoing breast surgery.

Mrs. Aviero is a breast cancer survivor, having beaten the life-threatening disease more than a decade ago.

Ronaldo’s mother has now revealed that she had surgery on her other breast, as well as a new course of radiotherapy.

“‘I was operated on another breast in Madrid, I’ve had radiotherapy and now I’m fighting for my life,” Mrs. Aviero told a Portuguese TV station (via Daily Mail) on Thursday.

In 2009, Cristiano Ronaldo, who played for Manchester United at that time, donated £100,000 to build a cancer centre at the hospital which saved his mother’s life.

He also gave a generous gift to the Portuguese League Against Cancer in his native Madeira to build a centre for cancer in the Hospital Central in island’s capital.

Mrs. Aviero also addressed the claims of sexual assault on Cristiano Ronaldo in the television appearance.

“I have confidence in my son when it comes to what happened. When she went there, it wasn’t to play cards. It was to do something,” she said.

“I know the son I have.”

Ronaldo has been accused of rape by an American woman named Kathryn Mayorga. The investigation over the case is currently undergoing.

Ronaldo’s mother followed a successful course of radiotherapy following a diagnosis of breast cancer over a decade ago, and was understood to be taking anti-cancer drugs to keep the disease at bay.

She gave an interview before travelling to Turin to celebrate the forward’s 35th birthday.

Cristiano Ronaldo is yet to make an official statement on his mother’s health scare.
