Watch: Virgil Van Dijk celebrates well before Mohammed Salah scores against Newcastle

Watch: Virgil Van Dijk celebrates well before Mohammed Salah scores against Newcastle in their Premier League match earlier in the day.

Liverpool continue their winning run in the Premier League after thrashing Newcastle United 3-1 today. They now have 5 wins out of 5 this season. However, the victory did not come without scare as the Magpies took a lead early on in the match.

Jetro Willems scored a screamer just 5 minutes into the match to give Newcastle the lead. However, Sadio Mane restored parity with yet another goal in the 28th minute. Mane scored once again before half-time to give Liverpool the lead before heading for break.

Steve Bruce’s men looked good for an equaliser in the second half but Jurgen Klopp’s men prevented them from levelling the scores. Instead they took a lead through Mohamed Salah who converted a delightful backheel assist from Roberto Firmino to make the score 3-1.

Apart from the backheeled beauty from Firmino, another telling moment of the last goal was Virgil Van Dijk’s celebration of the goal long before it was even scored.

The Dutch defender was seen raising his arms in celebration as soon as Salah received the pass from Firmino. Fortunately for him, Salah made no mistake finding the net.

To be fair this isn’t the first time he has done this. Van Dijk seems to have a lot of faith in Salah as he has celebrated like this before as well.

It was a good victory!

Speaking with BT Sport after the game, Van Dijk said

“It was very important to get the three points again.

“It was tough to break them down.

“We analysed them especially against Spurs. How they just keep defending and wait for opportunities.

“To go 1-0 down here is not good but we reacted the right way. It was a good victory.”

Van Dijk was then full of praise for Firmino, saying:

“He is a very important player for all of us. I know how difficult it is for a defender when the striker drops his position and he is making life difficult for any defender in the world, I think.

“He is so good and I am very happy he is on my team.”

Liverpool are now the first team in top-flight history to win 14 consecutive matches while scoring more than once in each win. The Reds are looking good for a maiden Premier League title and the fans will hope that the team continues their blistering form.
