Sachin Tendulkar, Brian Lara, Muttiah Muralitharan are set to feature in the new T20 tournament to promote awareness on road safety.

It seems like the era of 1995-2010 is about to come back as legends like Sachin Tendulkar, Brian Lara and Muttiah Muralitharan are set to feature in a new T20 cricket tournament.

The T20 tournament is aimed to promote road safety called the Road Safety World Series. Some other prominent names that are set to be part of the tournament include Jacques Kallis, Virendra Sehwag, Brett Lee and Shivnarine Chanderpaul.

According to ESPNcricinfo, the first season of the tournament will be played in 2020 between February 2 and 16 in Mumbai and will feature the following teams: India Legends, Australia Legends, South Africa Legends, Sri Lanka Legends and West Indies Legends.

Further, it has been claimed that a total of 110 players, all retired have confirmed their participation for this tournament. The tournament will be following the franchise model, which is prevailing in all other regular T20 leagues.

So far, he franchises have been restricted to the test playing countries and could include in the following seasons. Among the organisers promoting this event are Professional Management Group and the Road Safety Cell of the Maharashtra government.

It is further understood that the business plan aims to keep the tournament in India for the first ten years. Coming to the salaries of players, franchises will look after the wages of players in the tournament.

But the proceeds from the tournament itself would be utilised by the Road Safety Cell to promote the cause in addition to highlighting how India ranks highest in the list of deaths caused on roads in the world.

Sachin will return to play cricket in front of a crowd for the third time since he retired from all formats of cricket in 2013.
