Sanju Samson meets MS Dhoni amidst failing fitness test
Sanju Samson failed his fitness test last week in Bengaluru.
The Kerala wicketkeeper-batsman had an impressive IPL season. He was central to Rajasthan Royals’ successes in the opening games, and played crucial roles for the franchise as they made their way into the play-offs of the tournament.
His performances in the IPL led to his selection in the India-A side for the tours to England and West Indies. However, Samson received a major blow when he failed the ‘Yo-Yo’ test and was ruled out of both the tours.
The fitness test was made compulsory by the Board of Control of Cricket in India (BCCI), and it led to eviction of senior players like Mohammad Shami and Ambati Rayudu.
The selection in India A would’ve opened the doors of national comeback for Sanju Samson. The Kerala batsman has played only one international match for India: a T20Is against Zimbabwe three years ago.
Samson is currently in Bengaluru, where he met the former Indian captain and current wicketkeeper batsman MS Dhoni. Dhoni is one of the fittest cricketers in the Indian cricket team, and will be playing for India as the team commences the tour to United Kingdom with T20I series against Ireland.
Sanju Samson met the veteran Indian cricketer, and shared a snap from their meeting on his official Instagram account.
