Sebastian Vettel admits Ferrari have ingredients to beat Mercedes
Ferrari and Sebastian Vettel have a massive task on hand going into the 2019 season, as the Mercedes domination needs to come to an end as far as Ferrari are concerned.
They had a tiny chance last year, when Ferrari had put out the faster car on track. But, strategic and driver mistakes meant that Ferrari had to settle for second place yet again.
Ferrari have now gone onto make a few changes in personnel, something that is aimed at providing the team with the correct atmosphere and the expertise to flourish in F1 once again.
While addressing the media during the Race of Champions in Mexico, Vettel has confirmed that Ferrari do have the necessary ingredients to challenge and maybe even overtake Mercedes.
“It’s difficult to say at this time of year,” he said.
“Everybody’s still in the dark, we’re waiting for the cars to come and then get a feel and we’ll see in the first race.
“But looking forward, it’ll be a big challenge, what we want to achieve I think is clear. In terms of support I think here also there were a lot of Ferrari fans so we’re not lacking in terms of support.” he added.
Vettel did not have a very good ROC, as he lost out in the individual event to Mick Schumacher.
“I think it was a fun competition, I would have liked to go a bit further, to drive a bit more, but sometimes it’s like this,” he said.
“Nevertheless it’s been a great day, a great two days with a great crowd coming today and good support. I think we all enjoyed it.” he added.
