New York Yankees Bestow Baseball Tradition to Ferrari F1 Star Charles Leclerc at the Cathedral and Fans Just Can’t Have Enough

Before their glorious 7-2 victory over the Oakland Athletics, Aaron Judge and his squad welcomed Ferrari star Charles Leclerc to the field. Having traveled across the pond for the Miami GP, Leclerc made a quick stop at New York after his race.

Preceding the events of the night, the Yankees’ very own Anthony Volpe gave his special guest a good ol’ striped jersey for the occasion. Leclerc was also spotted sharing a conversation with Gerrit Cole. Probably getting some last-minute tips before his big moment.

The big moment? Leclerc made his way to the center of the field to throw the ceremonious first pitch of the evening. After an impressive throw, looks like Leclerc has some magic touch. A team almost as unlucky as Leclerc’s Ferrari, the Yankees got their big dub.

In fact, both baseball fanatics and F1 buffs were thrilled to see this unpredictable crossover. What also tickled most, was the irony of a Ferrari man rooting the Yankees as if the pain wasn’t enough already.

Fans react to Charles Leclerc in Yankees colors

Fans were largely split into two groups. The one side there were the supportive ones, happy to see Leclerc stand in the spotlight. But with the spotlight, the other half took the opportunity to roast the driver and his choice in teams.

Fans straight up accepted Leclerc on the mound, with people from all over sharing their approval.

Some, even emotional about seeing their driver rep their favorite baseball team.

In fact, he even managed to help them secure the win with his good luck. F1 fans also hopes this bodes well for Leclerc’s home race in Monaco, where the inverse seemingly works against him.

Now the others. Having endured the trauma of being a Yankees or Ferrari fan, they couldn’t help but laugh at Leclerc repping the Ferrari of MLB.

As Leclerc returns to his familiar pain next week, fans still await to see their driver on the top this season. As Ferrari have seemed to take a step back with their car, the driver is worried.

“It’s a very inconsistent car, it’s very peaky. You’re driving properly on the limit or on a knife edge and this means that in the race we’re paying the price.” However, with a break ahead of the race and the thrill of a home crowd, maybe Leclerc can break his curse.
