Vettel and Hamilton

Sebastian Vettel and Lewis Hamilton’s fiery rivalry was one of the highlights of last season with both drivers going at it on and off the track.

Vettel led the standings until the 14th race of the year but a series of setbacks that followed meant the Lewis Hamilton grabbed his 4th World Title.

During the W09’s launch last week, Hamilton told the press that he expected a fiercer battle this time round as things could get nasty.

“Expect the worst and hopefully it will be better.” Hamilton said.

“Hopefully if I am performing at my best there will be issues because they will be upset about it.” he added.

After day 4 of the testing, Vettel was asked about what he made of Hamilton’s comments and Vettel was quick to tell the reporters that he was of the same opinion as Hamilton.

“Pretty much the same.” Vettel said

“I think Mercedes is the favourite going into this year, so if we can be close – very close – closer than last year then that would be great.

“But it’s a long year. Now it’s March and we keep going to the end of November. So it’s a long time from here to the end of the season.” he added.

Ferrari haven’t won the title since 2008 but Vettel feels that this year they are strong enough to be competing for that elusive constructor’s title.

“It’s inevitable that everyone gets older but it’s always too long if more than a year goes,” he said of his title wait.

“You want to make sure you bring it back. That’s our ambition and target to bring the championships back to Maranello.” Vettel concluded.

The Hamilton-Vettel rivalry is sure to liven up the season this time round too and it would be intriguing for the fans to see who comes out on top this time.
