M S Dhoni came into Team India with the reputation of blasting away bowlers all over the ground. Since then he has developed a penchant to back players, especially youngsters, and to get best out of them. Nowadays Dhoni has picked up a role as an advisor to current captain Virat Kohli in field placements and crucial decisions in crunch situations for Team India. But Dhoni understands that the most important job in his hands is to guide upcoming young talent coming through the ranks. He considers his duty to provide them with essential tips from his vast experience, which makes him so special.
In this year’s IPL, Dhoni has been seen giving advice to numerous young players every now and then. Couple of days ago, in a match between MI and CSK, Dhoni was seen giving pivotal batting tips to struggling Ishan Kishan. Latest to enter in this list was Shivam Mavi, who had a brilliant U19 World Cup and has performed reasonably well for KKR in the IPL.
Yesterday’s match between KKR and CSK at Eden Gardens saw KKR thump CSK. They first restricted the heavy batting machinery of CSK to a moderate total, and then chased it easily with 2 overs to spare. After the match Dhoni had a discussion with Mavi and the youngster was full of gratitude towards the veteran cricketer.
Mavi posted a picture with Dhoni on his twitter page with a piece of his heart by saying, “The pieces of advice you gave me after the match are highly appreciated and words can neither qualify nor quantify your guidance and useful advice. Your perseverance, integrity and people-loving nature are just a few of your qualities that continue to inspire me. #Mahibhai”

Mavi was slotted in the KKR line up in place of Vinay Kumar and the teenager hasn’t looked back ever since. He bowls his overs throughout the innings whenever he is asked to. Even the legendary Aussie pacer Brett Lee is full of praise for him.
Mavi has only taken 3 wickets in the tournament but he bowls some really mean deliveries and has impressed many cricketers by his skills.
The most appealing aspect of his bowling is that he is able to bowl deliveries around 145kph on a regular basis. This fills the heart of every Indian with aspirations of a promising future.
