Sir Alex Ferguson news: Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has turned the tables in the limited period since his appointment at Manchester United.
Solskjaer joined the club as a caretaker manager after the sacking of Jose Mourinho. The Norwegian steered a stunning improvement in the side as United reached the league’s top four last weekend.
As the side hosts Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League’s round-of-16 tie later tonight, the fans are positive for a memorable European night.
Solskjaer played under Sir Alex Ferguson for the entirety of his career at Manchester United. In his autobiography, Sir Alex has mentioned about Solskjaer’s managerial traits, which the legendary manager discovered during his playing days.
Safe to say, playing under Sir Alex Ferguson has had a deeply positive impact on Solskjaer.
Sir Alex Ferguson news: Sir Alex on Solskjaer
Sir Alex Ferguson, in his autobiography ‘Alex Ferguson – My Autobiography’ wrote about Solskjaer’s behaviour during the games, which gave a sign he would turn to management at the end of his career.
“In games, sitting on the bench, and in training sessions, he would make notes, always,” Sir Alex wrote.
I wasn’t hesitant about Solskjaer potentially getting the job full time, because of credentials… but who cares about credentials when he’s doing what he’s doing with United. He’s made our team ‘buzz’ again. Can’t wait for the game tonight 🙌🏾😎 #ManchesterUnited #Solskjaer https://t.co/pFEodekMlB

“If you asked other managers who played against Sir Alex’s teams, the pace and tempo going forward was key. The belief, the surge, that last 15 to 20 minutes towards the Stretford End. It was like the ball was just sucked into the goal.”

“So by the time he came on he had analysed who the opponents were, what positions they were assuming.
“He had those images all worked out. The game was laid out for him like a diagram and he knew where to go and when.”
Solskjaer has reciprocated his in-game analysis to his managerial role in quite a fashion for Manchester United. The side is currently undefeated under his charge, having won ten games out of 11.
Imagine if we had Solskjaer as manager straight after Sir Alex, I know it might of been too early for him but I think some of the players that turned out to be flops and left during that period might have turned out better players for us with this type of management.
