Solskjaer had a funny answer when a journalist asked if he was too old to don the red jersey against Crystal Palace.

Manchester United face a massive injury crisis ahead of the game against Crystal Palace. The side could be without 10 players as they travel to Selhurst Park.

An injury-hit side put on a brave performance against the league-leaders Liverpool on Sunday, as a makeshift midfield held Klopp’s men to a draw at Old Trafford.

Solskjaer has indicated the possibility of U23 stars to be included in the game against Palace, and also insisted that Alexis Sanchez and Romelu Lukaku now have a bright opportunity to prove their mettle.

During the press conference ahead of the mid-week game, a journalist cheekily asked Solskjaer if he could return to the field due to injury issues. All the first-choice attackers in the front-three are out with injury.

The Norwegian caretaker manager had a funny reply to the question.

“I don’t think age is the problem, the problem is my fitness!” Solskjaer said.

He went on to talk about the injury issues at the club. “We’ve not had a session yet so I don’t think there are a lot of positives, no.

“I don’t know the list that’s supposed to be injured, Matteo [Darmian] trained the other day, I don’t think he’ll be ready, Rojo has been training so hopefully will be involved, Rashy we’re still waiting to see how his ankle is responding to the treatment, muscle injuries are too early to think about.

“That’s it. There’s quite a few out.”

Solskjaer played for Manchester United for 11 years, joining the club in 1996. He retired at Old Trafford in 2007 as one of the most celebrated footballers in the history of the club.

The former footballer has been equally effective in his managerial stint at Manchester United. The club appointed Solskjaer as the interim manager after parting ways with Jose Mourinho, owing to bad performances and tensions inside the dressing room.

Since joining the club in December, Solskjaer has accumalated 26 points in his first ten league games in-charge – the highest by a Premier League manager in the competition’s history.

Manchester United have lost only one game since Solskjaer’s appointment, winning 11 of 14. The side also reached the quarterfinal of the FA Cup last week after defeating Chelsea in the fifth round at Stamford Bridge.
