Ole Gunnar Solskjaer private training sessions

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is reportedly providing private sessions to two Manchester United players to improve their overall game.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has gone from a player favourite to managerial favourite with the relentless start they have made since the departure of Jose Mourinho in mid-December. The Norwegian has taken charge of twelve games till date, winning ten, losing one and drawing one in the process.

Their recent 2-0 loss to Paris Saint Germain at Old Trafford in the first leg of the Champions League Round of 16 proves there is still room of improvement in this squad. The frontline including Marcus Rashford, Paul Pogba, Anthony Martial, and Jesse Lingard have improved under his management. Victor Lindelof, who looked decent under Mourinho this term has taken his game to another level under Solskjaer.

Despite the recent improvements, the 45-year-old is not content and wants his players to put the shift and take their game to next level. They have scored 28 games in twelve games which is just 8 goals lesser than what they managed to muster under Jose Mourinho when was in charge of the team for four months.

The philosophy has changed from defensive to attacking in recent weeks and the results are showcasing it. According to the English publication Metro, Solskjaer has been holding private training sessions for Romelu Lukaku and Anthony Martial to enhance their game.

Jose Mourinho bought Romelu Lukaku for a fee of 90 million pounds from Everton during the summer of 2017. The Belgian International was one of the integral members of the squad, but he has struggled to nail a spot under the new interim boss. He has started just four games in the FA Cup and Premier League since Mid-December.

The report says that the former Chelsea striker has been told to improve his counter-attacking ability and his movements without the ball to give a headache to the defenders. It is also understood that the session lasts for 15-20 minutes after the normal training ends for the whole group daily.

Another player who is getting extra drill from Solskjaer is Anthony Martial. The French International is known for his dribbling ability and finding spaces between the defenders to pick out passes. Despite having all these abilities, he has never managed to score more than 20 goals per season which has prompted the Norwegian to look at Martial.

The 45-year-old is working with former Monaco forward to improve his finishing as he feels he has a very good eye on goal to put games to bed. There have often been comparisons to some of the former players, but Martial needs to work on his final third which is exactly Solskjaer’s thoughts too.

The Red Devils have been dealt with a huge blow as Jesse Lingard and Anthony Martial are expected to miss at least two weeks of football, which automatically rules them out for the games against Chelsea and Liverpool. On the other hand, Romelu Lukaku will be eager to grab his chance and nail a spot in the starting eleven.
