Solskjaer on his playing style

Solskjaer on his playing style: Manchester United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer speaks about his plans for Pogba, Rashford and Martial.

Manchester United went off to a good start under Solskjaer with a 5-1 win over Cardiff City. The club parted ways with Jose Mourinho last week, two days after a 3-1 loss to Liverpool at Anfield.

The side has had a struggling start to their campaign, as Manchester United were sixth in the table and 19 points behind league leaders Liverpool at the time of Mourinho’s sacking.

The season was further marred with controversies between Mourinho and the players. Paul Pogba spoke against Mourinho’s tactics, criticising the style of play in a mixed-zone interview.

The situation between them worsened after the duo was caught arguing during a training session after Manchester United were knocked out of the Carabao Cup to Derby County.

However, Solskjaer has now opened up on his plans for the players.

Solskjaer on his playing style:

The Norwegian interacted with the media for the pre-match conference before the game against Huddersfield Town. He opened up on his plans for Paul Pogba, Marcus Rashford and Anthony Martial, speaking highly of them in the media interaction.

“They’ve [players] not said anything to me about any handbrake (under Mourinho),” said Solskjaer. “But we spoke in the team meeting about how when we get one, we want to get two. When we get two, we want to get three.

“It’s not always going to happen like it did [at Cardiff] but you have to try and create chances and grind it out, but it worked and with the blistering pace we have up front I don’t think any team would like to have Martial, Pogba, Lingard and Rashford running at them.”

Solskjaer also said that the attacking philosophy is the part of Manchester United’s history, and he will continue with it.

“So why should we stop them? The attacking philosophy is in the walls of Man United. That’s tradition, that’s history, that’s how we play and want to play.”
