Solskjaer on Man Utd’s win vs Arsenal: Manchester United registered their eighth consecutive victory across all competitions under Solskjaer.

Manchester United advanced to the fifth round of the FA Cup with an emphatic 3-1 victory at the Emirates Stadium.

Alexis Sanchez, Jesse Lingard and Anthony Martial were among the goalscorers as the side played impressively throughout the game.

With this win, Solskjaer has now won his first eight games at the club.

The side played brilliant counter-attacking football after Solskjaer substituted Martial and Marcus Rashford in for Sanchez and Romelu Lukaku, and were rewarded with a late goal from the Frenchman.

And now, Solskjaer has commented on the side’s victory:

Solskjaer on Man Utd’s win vs Arsenal:

The caretaker manager was highly appreciative about his side, and stated that Manchester United looked like a ‘proper team.’

“It’s fantastic to go through in the cup. It’s one of the hardest games you can get.

“I’ve had a [selection] headache since I came because the squad is full of good players. It’s up to us to pick the right tactics and players. We need to rest a few as there’s big games coming up. But we have fresh legs.

“Today we looked more like a proper team. We looked more structured. We’d worked hard at defending and counter-attacking.

“Counter-attacking is classic Manchester United – Wayne Rooney, Cristiano Ronaldo, Ji Sung-park – we’ve scored so many at Arsenal over the years.”

He also stated that the result was a ‘big step forward’ for the side. However, he insisted that the side shouldn’t get complacent and that they are already looking forward to the next game.

“Today was a big step forward. It was a massive improvement from the Tottenham game. It’s easy to get excited and talk about the future but we need to just keep working and think about the next game.

“We had to dig deep. The attitude and work-rate was important. Towards the end it was comfortable but not during the 90 minutes.”

Romelu Lukaku, who bagged two assists in the first half, was awarded the Man of the Match for the game. He also interacted with the media after the victory.

On being asked if the current side looks like a ‘fun team to play with,’ Lukaku said, “It does it does, We had clear direction today and I’m really happy with the win and the manner in which we played.

“I just take it a day at a time. I work hard in training and it paid off today and we own. Now it’s up to me to keep working and help the team with goals and assists.”
