Manchester United will be taking on Barcelona in the second leg of the Champions League quarterfinal on Tuesday. Solskjaer has attacked Sergio Busquets ahead of the tie.
Manchester United registered an unconvincing 2-1 win over West Ham on Saturday night.
Paul Pogba scored both the goals through penalties, but both, Pogba and manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer admitted that the side was lucky to come out with three points.
Felipe Anderson scored the only goal for West Ham, who created more chances and posed a threat to the Manchester United defence throughout the game.
However, United would aim to put the performance behind them as they travel to Camp Nou to take on Catalan giants Barcelona in the second leg of the tie. Solskjaer’s men need to overturn a 1-0 deficit to advance to the semifinals, and the Norwegian boss had a rant over refereeing ahead of the game.
Solskjaer on Sergio Busquets:
Sergio Busquets made significant fouls throughout the game, but was only cautioned once with a yellow card
Various United fans criticized the referee, stating that the Barcelona midfielder should’ve been sent off. However, Busquets will now play in the second leg as well. Solskjaer, meanwhile, wasn’t happy with the referee either, and stated that Busquets should’ve been banned for the upcoming game at Camp Nou.
“I don’t want to bang on about being unlucky with some decisions, but Barcelona should have had a player sent off after about 15 minutes,” Solskjaer said.
“Busquets should not be playing in the second game because he got away with such a lot.
“We can’t do anything about it, but it’s important that the officials realise that Barcelona don’t just play good football. They are a streetwise side.”
Solskjaer also attacked Barcelona for intimidating the referee, calling the side “clever.”
“They were constantly cajoling the referee, speaking to him, making him their friend. That’s something our players must look at because they will play in a lot of these games in the years to come.
“Barcelona are clever. They’re experienced. They’ve got all the tricks.”

Before I go to sleep, a friendly reminder that an official referee deemed Busquets’s handball in the area completely legal and didn’t bother to check VAR and send him off like he should have.
But Luke Shaw was penalised for that because Suarez shouted in the ref’s face. pic.twitter.com/MIuEJJPhfO
