MI Predicted Playing 11 for today’s match vs SRH

MI Predicted Playing 11 for today’s match vs SRH: The Sportsrush presents before you MI’s Predicted Playing 11 for their fifth match of IPL 2019.

“Every game you play in IPL is important. And having lost two games at the start, every game is important. We don’t want the headache of winning every game at the back-end of the tournament. It becomes very tough,” Mumbai Indians captain Rohit Sharma was quoted as saying after beating Chennai Super Kings by 37 runs on their home ground.

Sharma was obviously referring to MI’s knack of losing matches initially only to play virtual knockouts in the second half of the league stage in the Indian Premier League. With two wins and two losses in four matches, Mumbai Indians are currently at No. 6 in the points table.

While it is not a position they would be boasting about, it is still better than reeling at the bottom of the table. With them playing their next match against the current table-toppers Sunrisers Hyderabad, one expects them to pull up their socks to put in a comprehensive performance tonight.

Top-order

33, 54, 51 and 8 are Mumbai Indians’ opening partnerships in IPL 2019 so far. Not that Sharma and wicket-keeper batsman Quinton de Kock haven’t played well, they have. However, they are yet to register a partnership which lays an apt foundation for the others to bank upon in the second phase of their innings.

Playing against an attack as potent as Sunrisers Hyderabad’s, Sharma and de Kock can do their team a drastic favour by stitching together a match-winning opening stand. Suryakumar Yadav, who bats at No. 3, will look to not just getting to starts but converting them as well.

Middle-order

In veteran batsman Yuvraj Singh and a triad of all-rounders in Krunal Pandya, Kieron Pollard and Hardik Pandya, Mumbai comprise of a menacing middle-order. Citing the batting form that Hardik Pandya is in, it wouldn’t be wrong to say that he holds the key for Indians in IPL 2019.

Bowlers

Mumbai will undoubtedly miss veteran fast bowler Lasith Malinga. Given his expertise with respect to bowling in the slog overs, Indians will look hand the additional responsibility to Jasprit Bumrah.

As far as replacing Malinga is concerned, MI should bring back tried and tested New Zealand fast bowler in Mitchell McClenaghan. Sharma would also be wanting to see more of rookie leg-spinner Rahul Chahar, who bowled two overs for just 11 runs during his MI debut against CSK.

MI Predicted Playing 11 for today’s match vs SRH – 1) Rohit Sharma (c) 2) Quinton de Kock (wk) 3) Suryakumar Yadav 4) Yuvraj Singh 5) Kieron Pollard 6) Krunal Pandya 7) Hardik Pandya 8) Mitchell McClenaghan 9) Jason Behrendorff 10) Rahul Chahar 11) Jasprit Bumrah
