The Indian Football Team is enjoying it’s best phase for quite some time now. Having won 11 of their last 13 games, there seems to have been a major overhaul in the internal structure of this previously languishing side. Stephen Constantine has worked wonders with the team, indulging in better man management and drafting a new playing style to help the Indian national side compete against evenly match teams.
Stephen Constantine feels that the new preparation methods that they have instilled is the secret to Indian Football’s recent rise.

“It has taken around two years for us to build a side who I think on any given day are capable of competing against any team,” Constantine told Hindustan Times.
India reached the top 100 in the FIFA Rankings for the first time in 100 years, and Constantine feels that with this new system in place, things are only going to go upwards from here on.
“One of the major improvements has been the manner in which we prepare for our matches. Our training sessions are all based on how we would play in the game and according to the physical attributes required for each specific position.
“So even though our training sessions may look easy from the stands, it deals with the players are required to do in their positions.”
Constantine is also extremely thrilled about how the GPS systems have helped him garner more information about his players, and have helped him analyse their movements better.
“The use of the GPS systems has been a novelty. The information which we have been able to attain has been huge as it confirms to us what is done in training and in matches too.”
The Indian team is currently attending a preparatory camp before their big Asian Cup qualifier against Kyrgyzstan.
When asked about the secret mantra for India’s recent success, Constantine said that it’s a combination of self belief and hard work
“I don’t think there is any secret. It’s been a combination of hard work and self belief. When I came in, I remember mentioning that it’s a learning process as you cannot build a team within a week or a month.”
