Sylhet Sixers franchise has lodged a complaint against the umpire Mahfuzur Rahman with the BPL Governing council for what the team feels is lack of supervision.

The umpire who officiated in the crucial match failed to spot out the blunder made by Sixers’ bowler Rabbi who bowled 7 balls in an over in what was the bizarre incident.

The unexpected thing happened during the 16th over of the game between Sylhet Sixers and Rangpur Riders in the Bangladesh Premier League in Chittagong on Tuesday.

Sylhet Sixers’ left-arm spinner Nabil Samad has said that their team pacer Rabbi bowled an extra ball during Rangpur Riders’ chase of 174. Nabil Samad vent out his frustration after team’s defeat as his team lost its track in the playoffs race.

According to Samad, Rabbi consulted the umpire for the number of balls before bowling the extra ball but things didn’t go down too well after the umpire failed to notice.

“Rabbi bowled an extra ball in the 17th (16th) over. Rabbi reminded the umpire of the number of balls before bowling the extra delivery, but that did not change anything.

I don’t know if the umpire checked with the third umpire at the time; I was not at the scene at the time,” Samad added.

Sylhet Sixers’ media manager Tamzidul Islam stressed the fact that they have lodged a complaint to the higher authority. He also added saying that Nassir Hossain, the captain of Sylhet Sixers cited the mistake during the match but that didn’t change anything.

“We have lodged a complaint. Our captain pointed out the error during the match on the field. The third umpire cross-checked and told us to lodge a written complaint,” Tamzidul Islam said.
