Sunil Joshi on MS Dhoni: CAC liked new Chairman of Selectors' 'straightforward' attitude about Dhoni

Sunil Joshi on MS Dhoni: The legendary captain is believed to have done the rounds in the interviews for the new selection committee yesterday.

Veteran India wicket-keeper batsman Mahendra Singh Dhoni recently put on display another instance of his fans showing huge admiration for him.

The video which surfaced across social media platforms was from the Chepauk stadium in Chennai where Indian Premier League franchise Chennai Super Kings were having a practice session ahead of IPL 2020.

Dhoni, who last played competitive cricket during the ICC Cricket World Cup 2019, received loud roars when he entered the stadium leave along batting in the nets.

The 38-year old player had missed the West Indies tour (and all subsequent series) last year due to his training for the parachute regiment of the Indian Army in Kashmir valley. Dhoni was in the news in January when his name wasn’t to be found in the list of annually contracted Indian players.

Despite not playing competitive cricket for eight months, Dhoni’s name did the rounds in the interviews conducted to select Indian team’s new selectors in Mumbai yesterday.

“Yes, the CAC had one common question and that was about their call with regards to Mahendra Singh Dhoni and whether they will select him for T20 World Cup. Dhoni is both a sensitive and tricky issue and that’s why the question needed to be asked,” a senior BCCI official was quoted as saying by India Today after the interviews.

Former India spinner Sunil Joshi, who has replaced MSK Prasad as the Chairman of Selectors, seems to have impressed the CAC (Cricket Advisory Committee) comprising of Madan Lal, RP Singh and Sulakshana Naik which selected the two national selectors.

While Lal didn’t provide the exact answer given by Joshi, he did mention that the CAC liked his straight forward attitude with respect to Dhoni. “We liked his straight forward attitude,” Lal told the reporters in Mumbai.
