Suresh Raina bowled by Dale Steyn

Suresh Raina bowled by Dale Steyn: Chennai Super Kings vice-captain was castled by Royal Challengers Bangalore’s veteran pacer.

During the 39th match of the ongoing 12th season of the Indian Premier League between Royal Challengers Bangalore and Chennai Super Kings at Bengaluru, veteran Royal Challengers Bangalore pacer Dale Steyn castled Chennai Super Kings vice-captain Suresh Raina.

It all happened on the last delivery of the first over when Raina was left clueless on the first delivery that he faced. Perhaps expecting a short delivery, Raina gave the impression of being bewildered as the soaring delivery from Steyn ended up uprooting his stumps.

In what was a first-ball duck for the out of form southpaw, it was a dominating sight for the fast bowler who was called up midway in the tournament as a replacement for Nathan Coulter-Nile.

Having picked up a couple of wickets in the powerplay in the previous match against Kolkata Knight Riders, Steyn continued the knack as he picked another couple in his first over itself.

On the delivery before dismissing Raina, Steyn had sent back veteran all-rounder Shane Watson (5) after he edged a delivery to Marcus Stoinis at first slip.

Defending a 162-run target, Royal Challengers needed wickets with the new ball. With Steyn making early inroads into Super Kings’ lineup, the match is evenly poised now.

After Super Kings captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni won the toss and put the hosts in to bat, RCB ended up scoring 161/7 in their allotted quota of 20 overs. Wicket-keeper batsman Parthiv Patel was the pick of the batsmen for RCB as he scored 53 (37) with the help of two fours and four sixes. With bowling figures of 4-0-25-2, CSK pacer Deepak Chahar was their highest wicket-taker.
