Sekhar has been instrumental in identifying the young talent for Delhi. The performance of young turks like Sanju Samson and Rishabh Pant caught everyone’s eye despite DD not qualifying for the knockout stage in IPL 2017.
The inclusion of David Warner in Delhi’s team in 2009 was largely credited to the former pacer. Sekhar cited personal reasons for leaving the franchise. Former Chief coach of MRF Pace Foundation said that,” It has been a very difficult decision for me to make, but it was for purely personal reasons.
I am grateful for the support and understanding from the franchise. It has been an absolute privilege being part of the franchise since its inception in 2008”.
Mumbai Indians would be looking forward to hiring T A Sekhar as Paras Mhambrey, now the bowling coach of India A and India U19, had to leave the franchise for national duty.
With the likes of Sachin Tendulkar and Mahela Jayawardene in their ranks, the inclusion of Sekhar would give a boost to their coaching team. Interestingly, one of Mumbai’s three IPL title wins came when the former national selector was associated with them.
