Jimmy Arias has been in the news in the past week following his criticism of Iga Swiatek. While criticism about her game might have flown under the radar, Arias chose to slam her personality, or rather the lack of it. Claiming it is not good for the WTA, the American had a bizarre take on the way the Pole wears her cap while playing. This did not go down well with the fans (or Nick Kyrgios for that matter) and Arias had a lot of anger targeted towards him.
As the discussion on the incident continues, fueled further by Tennis Channel’s decision to appoint Arias as one of the commentators for the Washington Open, fans have continued to counter his opinion while also showering Swiatek with love on social media. Similarly, a fan made video edit of the World No. 1 has gone viral, with many taking part in the discussion to either express their admiration of Swiatek or to slam Arias.
Iga Swiatek has enough personality
The fan made video is a compilation of a variety of moments where Iga Swiatek is showing her emotional side, interactions with others and bits and parts from some of her speeches. It shows the Pole in a range of different situations, being very expressive, thoughtful and smart. This is more than enough evidence to put to bed Arias’ comments about Iga not being great for women’s tennis.
One part of the video shows Swiatek talking about ‘World Mental health Day’ and announcing her decision to donate part of her prize money earnings to go towards caring for children suffering from mental health issues.
Another instance of her doing an interview is very heartwarming. Asked whom she would like to live a day in the life of, she says it would be someone who has a lot of problems rather than someone who has a great life.
