Tottenham Vs Liverpool: Mauricio Pochettino piles pressure on Liverpool ahead of the CL final

Mauricio Pochettino has piled up pressure on Liverpool on the Champions League final.

Both Liverpool and Tottenham Hotspur defied the odds to reach the Champions League finals. Both have deserved to enter the final with an enthralling attacking philosophy, but Mauricio Pochettino has piled pressure on Liverpool by labeling them as the ‘favourites’ in the final.

The Argentine International has also said that both Liverpool and Spurs are emotional, and expects no tactics at Wanda Metropolitano. This will be first ever Champions League appearance for Spurs in their history and they will desire to leave their footprints at the Capital City of Spain.

With no much to split between Jurgen Klopp and Mauricio Pochettino, with the most game having ended only in a stalemate, Spurs boss believes that the team with more emotion will come out on top on June 1.

“It’s impossible to say that it’s just another game,” Pochettino said at the Bilbao International Football Summit.

“The great thing is that we’re going to have three weeks to enjoy it; we’re experiencing unique moments.

“Everyone is expecting a tactical battle, but emotions will be the deciding factor. We’re two teams that know each other well, so no tactics are going to be a surprise. The emotional side is going to be fundamental.”

In the last year, Reds’ hopes were ended by the goalkeeper Loris Karis’ blunders and Gareth Bale’s wondergoal to settle the game for Real Madrid. Having qualified for the second straight final, Pochettino believes that Liverpool are the ‘favourites’ heading into this game.

“Maybe Liverpool are favourites because they were in the final last year and they’ve fought for the [Premier League title] until the end. They’ve invested heavily to win either the Premier League or the Champions League in the last few years.

“No one expected Tottenham to be able to get to a final, but we’re here on our own merit. This makes it more amazing and you enjoy it in a different way.

“We can make history. Obviously, you play a final to win it and we’re preparing to win it.” said Pochettino.
