Roger Federer has been living a dream and has helped a lot of lesser mortals to tag along with him too.
If we thought he had given us enough and that he did not need to provide his fans with another grand slam, we were wrong, because Federer believed, and whenever he has believed, he has delivered.
An Australian Open triumph after a 6-month injury lay off and a grand slam drought of almost 5 years seemed like that last stretch from Roger, but he was just warming up.
Another little break from the tour, and there was lifting aloft that famous Wimbledon trophy, kissing it with the same affection that he had done so almost 14 years ago. The warm up had transformed into a serious training session, but Federer was still gearing up for the big prize.
And boy did he deliver!
A rather comprehensive 3 sets win against Robin Hasse, where Federer was a little jittery in the first set, losing 6-4, but then came out all guns blazing in the next two(6-1, 6-1) to reach the summit of the ATP World Rankings once again, becoming the oldest man to do so.
While Tennis(and Federer) fans all across the world were expectant, ever since Roger had enrolled for Rotterdam, fans went crazy once it actually hit them that Roger was number one once again.

The first time Roger Federer got to #1 back in 2004…
…the big news was Janet Jackson’s wardrobe malfunction a day earlier.
…Stranger Things star Millie Bobby Brown was still in the womb.
…there had not yet been a sequel to Shrek, Spider Man, Oceans 11, or Barber Shop.

A couple of years ago seem to recall writing Federer’s days as a Slam winner/world number one were probably over. That worked out well.
