Twitter reactions on Alex Carey appealing for hit-wicket

Twitter reactions on Alex Carey appealing for hit-wicket: Twitter was angry with the Australian wicket-keeper for his act.

During the first T20I of the ongoing India’s tour of Australia at Brisbane, Australian wicket-keeper batsman Alex Carey’s gloves hit the stumps, disturbing the bails. Despite that, he ended up appealing for a hit-wicket dismissal for Indian batsman Lokesh Rahul.

Carey’s act didn’t seem to go too well with the Indian fans, most of whom were of the opinion that he did it on purpose in a bid to claim a chance of dismissing Rahul. Once the umpire called for the replays, it was clear that Rahul’s bat was way away from the stumps and that the stumps were disturbed by Carey’s gloves.

It happened on the first ball of the ninth over when Rahul played a cut off Australian leg-spinner Adam Zampa.

While Rahul survived this appeal, he couldn’t bat for much long as he was stumped by Carey on the following delivery. Coming in to bat at No. 3 in the fifth over, Rahul ended up scoring 13 (12) with the help of one four. Watch the full video:

After being put in to bat first by India, Australia ended up scoring 158-4 in their allotted quota of 17 overs. While the home team looked set to post a total in vicinity of 200, a rain interruption restricted their innings to just 17 overs.
