Twitter reactions on Chahal's career best ODI figures

Twitter reactions on Chahal’s career best ODI figures: Twitter was elated at the sight of the Indian leg-spinner’s splendid spell.

During the third match of the ongoing India’s tour of Australia at Melbourne, India leg-spinner Yuzvendra Chahal registered his career-best bowling figures of 10-0-42-6. In which is his second five-wicket haul in the last calendar year, Chahal now has both his five-wicket hauls outside of Asia, which is rare for a spinner.

The 28-year old cricketer last played an ODI against West Indies at Pune in October last year. After being benched for several matches across formats, Chahal stood tall on his potential in his comeback match.

Replacing chinaman bowler Kuldeep Yadav in the playing XI, Chahal created immediate impact after being introduced into the attack as the sixth bowler. After India pacer Bhuvneshwar Kumar sent back the Australian opening batsmen, Chahal dented the opposition by picking up two wickets in his second over.

After a wide delivery saw the end of Shaun Marsh (39), Chahal deceived Usman Khawaja (34) a couple of deliveries later as the southpaw ended up looping the ball back to the bowler. In the same spell, Chahal also sent back Australia all-rounder Marcus Stoinis (10) as the hosts were reduced to 123-5.

Bowling during the death overs, Chahal ensured that Australia’s lower-order doesn’t gain any advantage as he picked up three wickets in as many overs to continually put the opposition on the back-foot.

Towards the end, Chahal dismissed Jhye Richardson (16), Peter Handscomb (58) and Adam Zampa (8) to achieve the milestone as Australia ended up scoring 230-10 in 48.4 overs. Chahal also equaled the record of former India pacer Ajit Agarkar for best bowling figures by a bowler at Melbourne.

Chahal’ spell saw him receiving plentiful approbations on social media platform Twitter. Read some of those tweets below:
