Twitter reactions on Cheteshwar Pujara's 193

Twitter reactions on Cheteshwar Pujara’s 193: Twitter raves about the Indian batsman despite him missing his double century.

During the second day of the fourth Test of the ongoing India’s tour of Australia at Sydney, India batsman Cheteshwar Pujara missed his fourth double century by just seven runs. That being said, Pujara put India on their way to build a formidable first innings total.

In which would have been Pujara’s third double century against Australia and his first in Australia, it didn’t happen as he was out caught and bowled by Australia off-spinner Nathan Lyon on the last ball of the 130th over.

Resuming the innings on 130* from Day 1, Pujara kept on adding to the misery of the Australian bowlers. With his sensational knock getting on the opposition’s mind and body language, proceedings seemed to become fairly easy for the 30-year old right-hand batsman.

Before getting out, Pujara ended up scoring 193 (373) with the help of 22 fours. It was the second instance when Pujara had batted for over 500 minutes in a Test innings against Australia. It is worth mentioning that only three batsmen in Sunil Gavaskar, Sachin Tendulkar and Alistair Cook have done it in the past.

In Hanuma Vihari (42), India lost a wicket early on Day 2. However, Pujara appeared unperturbed by it. He was usual self, seen in an attempt to build another partnership with wicket-keeper batsman Rishabh Pant.

On the second delivery of the 102nd over, Pujara hit an exquisite cover drive to cross the 150-run mark, becoming only the fifth Indian batsman to do the same at SCG.

Like it has been the case throughout the series, India’s backbone Pujara’s innings saw him accumulating plentiful remarks about his greatness on social media platform Twitter despite not being able to register a double century. Read some of the latest Twitter reactions on below:
