Twitter reactions on Hanuma Vihari's maiden Test hundred vs West Indies in Jamaica

Twitter reactions on Hanuma Vihari’s maiden Test hundred: Twitter was exhilarated at watching the Indian batsman play a sensible innings.

During the second day of the second Test of the ongoing India’s tour of West Indies in Jamaica, India middle-order batsman Hanuma Vihari registered his maiden Test century. While he narrowly missed the milestone in the first Test in Antigua, the right-hand batsman didn’t let the opportunity go his time round.

Coming in to bat at No. 6 in the 60th over, Vihari made sure that India don’t lose any more wickets in the last session yesterday. It was a 62-run partnership between him and wicket-keeper batsman Rishabh Pant (27) which brought back India on track.

Vihari put on display a highly patient innings making sure that India post a formidable score after West Indies captain Jason Holder won the toss and chose to field. It was on the last delivery of the 97th over that Vihari hit a four off the inside edge against Holder to complete his half-century.

In what was the 25-year old batsman’s first boundary of the day, he hit another off West Indies fast bowler Shannon Gabriel. Vihari first started to dominate proceedings today in the 113th over when he hit debutant West Indies spinner Rahkeem Cornwall for three fours in the same over. It was in between these boundaries that John Campbell dropped Vihari at first slip.

It was on the first delivery of the 133rd over that Vihari ran a single off West Indies fast bowler Kemar Roach to reach the three-figure mark for the first time in Test cricket. Been stuck in the 80s for a long time, Vihari didn’t give try to do anything fancy in desperation.
