Twitter reactions on Mohammed Shami's maiden five-wicket haul vs England in 2019 Cricket World Cup

Twitter reactions on Mohammed Shami’s maiden five-wicket haul: Twitter was exhilarated to watch the Indian pacer pick five wickets.

During the 38th match of the ongoing ICC Cricket World Cup 2019 between England and India at Edgbaston, India fast bowler Mohammed Shami registered his maiden five-wicket haul to restrict the opposition to 337/7 in 50 overs. Coming on the back of two consecutive four-wicket hauls, Shami continued his sublime form with the ball in hand.

Opening the bowling for India, Shami gave away 22 runs in his first four overs. With England opening batsmen Jason Roy and Jonny Bairstow dictating terms in the beginning, Shami conceding less than six runs per over was in itself an achievement with the new ball.

Brought into his third spell in the 32nd over, Shami caused immediate impact as he dismissed Bairstow (111) after his eighth ODI century. In the following over, Shami further dented England post dismissing England captain Eoin Morgan (1) off a short ball.

At the end of his third spell, Shami had registered bowling figures of 7-1-25-2. With England all-rounder Ben Stokes calling the shots in the slog over, Shami picked another wicket in the form of Joe Root (44) on the first ball of his eighth over.

While Shami conceded 44 runs in the last three overs, he picked a wicket each in his three overs to make sure England don’t cross the 350-run mark. The right-arm pacer then dismissed Jos Buttler (20) and Chris Woakes (7) in his penultimate and last over to end with bowling figures of 10-1-69-5.
