Twitter reactions on MS Dhoni’s 69th ODI half-century: Twitter was elated at the Indian wicket-keeper successfully finishing the match for India.

During the second ODI of the ongoing India’s tour of Australia at Adelaide, former India captain and current wicket-keeper batsman Mahendra Singh Dhoni scored his 69th ODI half-century to seal the chase for India in the last over.

After India captain Virat Kohli got out after scoring a fantastic 39th ODI century, the onus was on Dhoni and incoming batsman Dinesh Karthik to steer the team. Dhoni, who came in to bat at No. 6, had played 34 balls by this point and was well set.

In the last five over. India required 44 runs to win the match. Karthik scored a boundary off Jhye Richardson to accumulate 10 runs in the over. The 33-year old right-hand batsman scored another four in the next over bowled by Marcus Stoinis to bring down the equation to 25 runs from 18 balls.

Dhoni giving the strike to Karthik ensured that the runs kept coming from ends. Despite no boundaries coming in the next two overs, India still scored 18 runs which spoke highly about the running between the wickets of both the players.

With India needing seven runs off the last over, Dhoni hit a six off Jason Behrendorff. The shot came as a delight for Dhoni and India’s fans, who were desperately waiting for him to win matches for India. Dhoni took a single on the last delivery to seal the chase as the Indian players were seen relishing the knock played by the sernior-most cricketer.

Dhoni ended up scoring 55* (54) with the help of a couple of sixes. On the other hand, Karthik’s vital contribution saw him scoring 25* (14) with the help of a couple of fours.
