Twitter reactions on Rohit Sharma and MS Dhoni powering India to victory vs South Africa | Cricket World Cup 2019

Twitter reactions on Rohit Sharma and MS Dhoni: Twitter was jubilant on watching India opening their campaign on a winning note.

During the eighth match of the ongoing ICC Cricket World Cup 2019 between South Africa and India at Southampton, India defeated South Africa by 6 wickets to commence their tournament on a winning note.

It was a 74-run partnership for the fourth wicket between vice-captain Rohit Sharma and wicket-keeper batsman Mahendra Singh Dhoni (34) which aided India to seal the 228-run chase in the 48th over.

Given the target, India never looked out of the contest. South Africa fast bowlers in Kagiso Rabada and Chris Morris did test the Indian top-order in the beginning but Sharma putting on display grit and determination eventually reaped fruits for India.

Talking of Sharma, the 32-year old cricketer gave the impression of not doing anything fancy even after getting his eye in. Aware about the conditions, Sharma took the onus on himself in association with remaining fortunate on a couple of occasions. While Sharma scored 122* (144) with the help of 13 fours and a couple of sixes, all-rounder Hardik Pandya remained unbeaten on 15* (7).

After South Africa captain Faf du Plessis won the toss and chose to bat, South Africa put on board a below par 227/9 in their allotted quota of 50 overs. All-rounder Chris Morris, who came in to bat at No. 8 in the 36th over, top-scored for his team scoring 42 (34) with the help of one four and two sixes.

With bowling figures of 10-0-51-4, leg-spinner Yuzvendra Chahal was the pick of the bowlers for India.
