Twitter reactions on Rohit Sharma’s 21st ODI century: Twitter was elated on Rohit Sharma’s 21st ODI century.

During the fourth ODI of the ongoing Windies’ tour of India at Mumbai, India vice-captain Rohit Sharma scored his 21st Test century, rescuing India after they lost a couple of wickets initially.

Opening the batting with Shikhar Dhawan on a batting paradise, Sharma hit the first ball that he faced for a four over the point region. Continuing the trend on the first delivery of the second over, Sharma scored his second boundary off Jason Holder.

After Dhawan (38) and captain Virat Kohli (16) got out in the 12th and 17th over respectively, Sharma took the onus on him, steadying himself for a responsible innings. On the second delivery of the 22nd over, Sharma pulled a Keemo Paul short ball for a four to complete his half-century.

Rovman Powell, who bowled for the first time in this series, witnessed the first signs of real attack as Sharma hit him for three fours in his fourth over, the 27th of the innings. It was at this point in time that Ambati Rayudu was also looking to up the ante.

On the third delivery of the 33rd over, Sharma hit a four towards the point region to complete his 21st ODI century off 98 balls. With over 100 deliveries remaining in the Indian innings, there were bright chances of Sharma reaching to his fourth ODI double hundred.

Pressing on the accelerator, both Sharma and Rayudu took on the bowlers from hereon. On the fourth delivery of the 43rd over, Sharma crossed the 150-run mark for the seventh time in his ODI career, most ever by a batsman.

Sharma’s chances of scoring a double hundred ended when he mis-timed slash to Chanderpaul Hemraj at short third-man off Ashley Nurse. He ended up scoring 162 (137) with the help of 20 fours and four sixes.
