During the 38th match of the ongoing ICC Cricket World Cup 2019 between England and India at Edgbaston, India vice-captain Rohit Sharma scored his 25th ODI century to keep India in contention of a 338-run target.
Opening the batting with Lokesh Rahul (0), Sharma witnessed his opening partner walking back to the pavilion without opening his account. With India losing an early wicket, Sharma took his time to get his eye in.
While he played exceptionally well for his third century of the tournament, one believes that he is still to hit peak form. With him as the set batsman, India need him to play till the end if are to stand a chance to come in vicinity of the target.

Sharma played a pivotal role in a 138-run partnership for the second wicket alongside captain Virat Kohli (66). While Kohli completed his half-century before Sharma, the latter was seen playing the anchor role. It was on the last delivery of the 23rd over that Sharma hit a boundary off England leg-spinner Adil Rashid to complete his half-century.
After Kohli got out in the 29th over, Sharma was seen taking the mantle on himself and rightly so. It was on the fourth delivery of the 35th over when Sharma dabbed a Liam Plunkett delivery towards third-man to ran a couple of runs and surpass the three-figure mark.
